Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) is a technology for determining the sequence of DNA or RNA to study genetic variation associated with hereditary (genetic) diseases or other biological phenomena.
Biovision Diagnostics offers hereditary Cardio and Neuro panels designed for individuals with a personal and/or family history of Cardiovascular disease, Parkinson’s Disease, Alzheimer’s Disease, and genetic disorders that cause dementia. The test uses NGS technology to examine established disease genes that are associated with an increased risk of developing these conditions, and each of the conditions tested for is considered clinically actionable.
Research has shown that these genetic changes can be inherited and passed down in families, so family members can also be tested to help define their risk. If a pathogenic variant is identified, close relatives (children, siblings, and parents) are up to 50% more likely to also be at increased risk.
